There are strict environmental regulations about the
disposal of surplus and end-of-life computerequipment. You can't simply just chuck
it in the bin. The National Environment Management Waste Act: 2008
sets out the regulations and the best practice for equipment disposal.
In South Africa it is common cause that our schools
are woefully underequipped with IT equipment, and many scholars enter
the employment market never having seen a computer. Much equipment
replaced in a company rotation cycle or end of life replacement
programme can be usefully used in Education.
We act as an agent for a Johannesburg company that
specialises in redundant and surplus asset disposal:
handover of redundant IT equipment;
packaging and secure transportation;
waste and disposal compliance certificates; and
asset buyback and worthy cause donation as well as
provision of an audit trail
to demonstrate that the equipment was disposed of properly.
